Measuring spoons

Having read Delia's advice that plastic measuring spoons are a bit on the mean side I tested mine. Delia is correct they are! so I know weigh out 20ml = 1 tablespoon.

Not sure how they can be 'on the mean side'.!!
They are standardised spoons with a fixed metric measurement.
Australian tablespoons are 20ml but I think UK ones are 15ml.
Not 'mean' just a standard size!!

Spoons are the one thing Delia is a bit random about; heaped this and that. It rarely matters; for example there is a difference between a 'cup' and 250ml, but it is only about a tablespoon. Immaterial.

The thing that bugs me most about the two different sets of measuring spoons that I have is that the teaspoon and half teaspoon just do not fit in my Schwartz spice jars! I do, of course, know how to get round that, but it's still a minor irritation!

Well, here's a hint and tip. Never buy spices in little bottles. Just look at the unit price and find a wholefood shop which sells loose spices - take your own spice jar if you will - or an Indian spice shop.

Much, much cheaper and fresher.
