Low Fat Fryers

We have chips every week and use currently a deep fat fryer but need to replace it. I would like to try a low fat fryer but the rest of the family are not keen. I have read several posts on the Forum about these but no one has said what the chips taste like. Can anyone please advise whether they taste better/same/worse than DFF chips?

Not used one myself. I like my Magimix deep-fryer.

Low Fat Fryers

I have a Phillips Air Fryer. I am afraid I am very lazy and use oven chips. They taste much nicer cooked in the Air Fryer than they do in the oven. We cooked them when we had people staying and they liked them. I have not had it long and I have not tried cooking chips from scratch.

Low Fat Fryers

I must admit, I was tempted to get one of these as I have a DFF and although I do not use it that often I thought maybe it would be a healthy alternative. But then I thought about what I actually use my fryer for..well, I deep fry battered fish, things wrapped in filo pastry, fish cakes, tempura, things coated in breadcrumbs, although it is not often used it does have its plce and none of the things mentioned could be done in the low fat fryer because either they are coated or delicate, so I would still occasionally need my DFF. I would not use it for stir frying and the like as I have my wok and one can always do it with cooking spray to save on fat and calories, so for the sake of cooking just chips it would be a bulky and expensive item to have. I would rather stick to cooking chips on the odd occasion as a treat and cook them in my fryer. These are all things to consider if you are thinking of getting one. Sorry, I don't know if they cook chips nicely or not though.
