Keen to know which brand to buy? Or want to share a great purchase with the rest of us? This is the place to do it...

Food-grade grease

I've just been knocking out bacon burgers with the aid of my ancient Kenwood Major plus mincer. It's time I gave the machine some tlc. Does anyone know if its OK to use vaseline instead of "food-grade grease" to lubricate the gear train. I know I can get some off the net, but its expensive for what it is and I'm skint. Thank you.

Grease

Hi

Sorry, I've only just noticed this. We have a small vineyard and use vaseline oil round the rim of the vats to seal the lids. It's odourless and tasteless. It's about 5 euro/litre. We buy it from our local ironmonger.

I hope this is of some help.
