Splitting Aquilegia plants

Splitting Aquilegia plants

Please can someone help.Is it possible to split aquilegias. I assume after it has finished flowering if it is possible.

Just let them self seed, which they do happily.
I have to pull them up ruthlessly early Spring or they would take over !

They do self seed quite happily, but if you want them to grow in a specific area, just wait until after they have flowered and the buds have totally dried up, then split them open and will see all the little seeds inside.

Please be careful when handling the seeds, every part of the this plant is said to be poisonous.
Funny how something so beautiful can be so hazardous isn't it !
