Mad nastursiums

Anyone else got nastursiums? Mine is mad, takes over the garden so have managed to cage it in behind a small fence. I do love it though, havent ate the flowers yet though!

Mad nasturtialums

One of my favourite flowers Gravy, the colours lift one's spirits don't they? In Portugal I saw entire hillsides covered in them. The flowers are slightly peppery, look pretty in a salad or just for decoration.

Day of the Triffids

Thats exactly it Sandra! They will strangle us in the night one day! They are ok now I've managed to contain them but the buggers are always looking to escape!

Very pretty flowers as you say Squeaks, I shall put them in a salad soon!

Nasturtiums

Oops realised I spelled that wrong at first.

Susan - your flowers should be out now. I've been nibbling on mine while sitting in the garden, I don't think they taste of much really.......

No nasturtium flowers

They thrive on poor, stony soil, otherwise they just produce leaves.

Yes Gerry

Spot on Gerry, mine are on crappy soil down the side of the house with very little sun. I'm amazed they do so well there!

They're in perfect

conditions, Gravy. BTW Guess you all know you can treat the seeds as capers and use in the same way.

I've used mine as 'companion planting' in with my brassicas this year and they have totally taken over one of the raised beds! Looks very pretty though and I do put them in salads. M's not keen, but he's a typical bloke! Suspicious of anything new.

Mad nastursiums

I have some in the front garden which I trained to climb up a tree! They are now entwined right up the trunk and around the branches - absolutely gorgeous and getting lots of ooohs and ahs from passers-by.
