Myrtle, Im sooooo excited

Yippee, just recv'd an e-mail to say that my new myrtle plantlings have been dispatched and should arrive within 3 days. One of my most fave plants and it's taken me 2 years to find a supplier !!
Actually managed to identify a company here in France. Fingers crossed :0)

Myrtle

Ha ha, EB.

I first saw the flowers on a plant in Turkey many years ago and had no idea what it was. Took me a few years to find the answer. The perfume of the foliage is quite heady and it's an evergreen. Took cuttings from the plant we did have back in the UK but they didn't survive the 2nd harsh winter.

It can be eaten leaves and berries and apparently have the flavour of juniper and rosenary. I did spot some dried myrtle leaves for sale in Tesco shortly before we left, very expensive !!

If you google myrtus communis (sp) you should find many piccies of the Common Myrtle, the huge number of stamens on such a small flower; delightful :0)

What a great saying EB!! Is that Canadian? Aussies have lots of expressive ways of saying things (some of which are repeatable!!) but I've never heard that one!
