Oh to be in England now that.....

My beech hedge is finally waking up ! The green is like no other and I adore it.

So, how would you complete this famous phrase ?

Apologies to Robert Browning ...

Oh, to be in England
Now Gordon's Browning off.
And whoever wakes in England
Smiles, each morning, well aware,
The low man who was tyrant chief
Who lied each time we saw his teeth
Was booted off his golden bough
By England - now!

Chazza, I'm impressed!

Not totally sure that Robert Browning would agree with me though.

I liked it.

Like the poem Chazza.
Not quite sure why everyone seems to hate Gordon Brown, but it's a long time since I lived in UK. Seems a bit of a mess at the moment, politically that is. Hope GB's resignation helps to sort things out.

Mr Brown

not been there for 4 yrs myself, but general opinion seems to be he was absolutely useless at his job...which is tricky if you're PM

Brown booted

I was a bit off on one there, I suspect. Needed a break. If anyone wants to know what on earth I was wittering about look up the original peom and it should be clearer.

Seems that Broon's reputation outside the UK is more mixed than inside. He's noted for being part responsible for the world crisis, and for "leading" Britain into one of the worst national debt problems in Europe (he was chancellor, don't forget), but gains some cred for saying that something should be done about it earlier than, e.g. the Greek PM.

From inside the UK, if you either still pay taxes, or feel entitled to the pension and the health care you already paid for via National Insurance contributions (but can't have) your opinion's probably different.
