Ground Elder

Don't know whether to put this in the Cookery section or Gardening? Recently I read in a River Cottage article that this can be used in a Salad and also as a veg. like Spinach. Has anyone tried it - be interested to know. There's loads in our garden.

Don't know whether you can eat it, but I wouldn't encourage it! It's a monster to get rid of, really invasive.

Ground Elder

I have Ground Elder rampaging through my flower beds so it would be great if I could eat it. It is almost impossible to get rid of as the smallest piece left in the ground just shoots again.Cx

Ground Elder

I have just Googled and apparently the Romans brought it over to use as food and as a medication for Gout. Don't use it once it has flowered through as it turns into a strong laxative! Is an acquired taste though. Mine is just starting to come through now so will start harvesting it soon. Cx
