We know many of you are keen on gardening, so here's your latest plot: dug over, weed free and ready to sow the seeds of new ideas...
I have a few bare patches on the grass,( not really bare patches but two areas that are only weeds, so if i de-weed) when would be the best time to put down the grass seeds.Do i wait until it gets a bit warmer or should i do it now while it is all nice and wet?????????thanks for any advicesue
Hi SueI would wait till mid March when hopefully it will be getting warmer. Try to rough up the ground where you want to reseed before sowing. Then mix the seed with some fine soil and sharp sand then sprinkle onto bare patches and leave the rest to nature. Good luck.
Thanks for the advice, will wait for the weather to change.
You will get lots of new bird friends, usually pidgeons, so you might consider covering the patches with some netting. If the weeds are dandelions, make sure you dig the whole root out - snapping off the top part will just encourage them to work harder.
