Acorns..........and more

acorns !!!
My OH has just raked about 2 hundreweight of acorns from our garden....probably missed just as many, and that's only the first lot !!!
Anyone want the potential equvalent of a small rainforest of Oak trees ??

Acorns

I find little piles of acorns secreted away in several little places. I hope it might be red squirrels but I've not really seen any in the garden although they are sighted nearby occasionally.

Got quite a few little oak saplings if anybody wants them !!

Yummy, have you thought about keeping a couple of pigs? I'm told they don't take up too much room. OH has told me I can't have pigs :0(

Same here Biggs !!

OH has drawn the line at pigs....even little KuniKuni (sp) ones !!
Little piles of acorns we could cope with but there are MILLIONS (no kidding !) We bought some of the big garden bags from Lidl a few weeks ago and have filled 3 already....we do know someone who breed Gloucs Old Spot and Tamworths and I said to OH we should take them over there. Trying to burn them at the mo and the fire has been going since saturday !!

Pity it isn't truffles rather than acorns!

Would make a good crop for selling and a good reason to have those little pigs. Mind you, they might eat the truffles before you get to them.

Truffles...

Yummmmm, must be the season about now :0)

Aren't our OH's being short sighted Yummy !!!

Lots of noise going in the chicken coop, will check on any eggs when I get back from the airport:0)

Actually, back on topic, I have noticed hundreds of acorns in the chicken pen this morning.....

haha

we have the same problem and sweep them all up for a local pig farmer to come and collect, usually get a few pork chops for my trouble.... : )

Might try that Lesley

When I suggested it to OH he laughed, but they put the pigs into the New Forest for Pannage don't they....might give them a ring!
Thanks for the confirmation
