Killing moss and weeds

Please can anyone tell me the best and easiest way of getting rid of moss and weeds from in between paving bricks?

A friend of mine has a Butane Gas Weed Blowtorch which she uses to kill weeds between her path paving stones and finds it very useful. She bought hers from Amazon and it cost around £25 and came complete with gas cylinders.

Or just spray them with glyphosphate? (Round-up)

Moss and Weeds

Thanks for the replies, Dottie and Sonya. I didn't realise you could buy a blow torch for burning weeds and it's worth bearing in mind. I had been thinking more along the lines of a spray and wondered which of the many available was the most effective as there are so many to choose from.

If you do use glyphosphate ensure you don't walk on the area for some time as you could transfer the weedkiller from your shoes to say the lawn etc.

Glyphosate is inactive as soon as it hits the ground. It only works on greenery by translocation to the roots. It is no good at this time of year, the weeds must be growing actively.
There must also be at least 6 hours of dry weather after you have applied it.

I'm not sure it works on moss. Do not put moss in the compost heap or you will spread it everywhere.

I've found that spraying doesn't kill the moss. killing the weeds just makes more room for the moss to grow. It certainly won't work at this time of the year.

I've just noticed an advert on the right hand side of this post called "Simply Gone". The product sounds just what you are looking for?

Essex Girl, if the advert is not there when you look for it check out www.simplygone. The Domestic size product is £14.29. Hope this helps.

Dottie May, companies trawl the posts and put adverts on the screen that relate to the posts. Do not be drawn in, just as you would not be drawn to every product that appears on the TV.

Thanks for all your help, you've given me something to think about but it seems there's no point in doing anything until the Spring at the earliest.

I was looking at that blowtorch gadget today in a garden centre. Quite fancy strutting around with fire! But I know OH will laugh! It did state only for use on paths, patios etc - not on lawns or flower beds, as if!!

I've got one of those torches for caramelising, perhaps I could have a practice with that!
