Brown bread


I have just made your wholemeal brown bread recipe. After mixing dry ingredients I added 350ml of water, as per recipe, however the mixture was extremely wet, far too wet to turn out to floured board so I added another few handfuls of flour. Was this ok to do or have I completely ruined loaf?

Hello Niamh,

It’s very unlikely that you have ruined it. Generally the wetter the better so I’m sure it will be fine.

We have not found the dough to be over wet. Did you use strong flour? Could there have been something that caused a sight error in the weighing and measuring perhaps?
