Buttercream

Do you know how long buttercream (made with butter) will last for. I plan to make a batch and then store it in the fridge for a few days before using it in my cakes. Just wondered how long it will last out of the fridge. Thanks.

For Country Baker

Hello Country Baker,

In an airtight container you can freeze buttercream for a couple of months or store it in the fridge for a couple of weeks. Either way it needs to be brought back to room temperature before you can use it.

Once on the cake (providing the conditions are mild) it can be kept out of the fridge on you cake/s for a few days, again in airtight containers.

Best wishes

Lindsey
