Just registered and come to say hello. I want to try and improve my cooking. I am about to make Delia's pumpkin soup and hopefully that will be a success for a start.

Many thanks for the very warm welcome.

The soup went fine and we were very pleased with it.

Just one point. I have just purchased a Kenwood HB 724 hand blender and for soups it advises to leave the soup cool to room temperature before blending. I have the impression that this advice is merely a safety aspect. What is the accepted practice?

Yes, I am from the mountains of Mid. Wales, but I have lived in Solihull, West Midlands for a very long time.

I think you could well be right on the safety aspect. I certainly do mine while it's still warm (perhaps not boiling hot) because I figure it's easier while the pieces are warm and soft. Whether it effects the flavours, I have no idea. But someone may know.

Hello!

Hi there,

Nice to see new people wanting to get stuck in!

Re hand blenders, I always process my soup immediately because if I make soup it is usually to eat there & then (and I don't usually plan that far ahead)! If you're careful I'm sure you'll be fine... ;)
