Chutney

Made chutney yesterday but I have overboiled it and it is too solid. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

What chutney is it , would help to know the main ingredient

Main ingredient 3 lb apple, 1lb onions, sultanas, spiced vinegar.

Apple Chutney

Hello ruthiebo,

Perhaps you could loosen it with little cider or apple juice to each jar as you use it.

Apple juice

For that amount of fruit , I would be inclined to put it all back in the pan, add roughly 1/2 pint of apple juice .
Bring this back to the boil very slowly , patience is the name of the game here .as soon as it starts to bubble keep a very close eye as it will not take long for most of the juice to disappear.
Switch of the heat , the chutney should look moist but not have a puddle of liquid formed anywhere .
Time to put this in jars
