2 Christmas cakes in oven at the same time?

Hi all,

I am making 6 of Delia's Classic Christmas Cakes for presents. I was wondering if you could put 2 in the oven at the same time if they fit on the same shelf? And if so, how would this affect the cooking time?

Thanks for any advice.

2 christmas cakes

Hello Wendy,

You can do this providing your shelf is wide enough for the 2 cakes to sit comfortably side by side, with all the brown paper protection and still not be touching the sides of the oven or each other.

I wouldn’t necessarily allow more time but I would probably swap the tins half way through because the walls of the oven can get much hotter.

I would think, but don’t know, that this is a time that a fan oven that distributes the heat evenly, would be advantageous.

Best wishes
