Sausage with Puy Lentils

Good Morning Lindsey. I liked the sound of yesterday's Recipe of the Day. I already have a pouch of Merchant Gourmet Ready to Eat Puy Lentils and wonder if I can use these in Delia's recipe? If so, how? Many thanks. Dottie

Hello Dottie,

I would say 12oz, 350g but if you have a 250g pack I would just make the recipe with those.

Best wishes

Lindsey

Liquid?

I had wondered this too as Sainsburys seemed to have plenty of Puy lentils in other forms but no dried ones! What about the 10 fl oz of the cooking liquid that goes in along with the lentils though, any ideas what we could substitute that with?

10 fl.oz of liquid? That is what I wondered JuneJ as the Puy Lentils I have are already cooked and perhaps would only need heating up for a short time after adding the sausages to the casserole. Could I add 10 fl.oz of say veg. stock to the tomato mixture?

Sausage with Puy Lentils

Hello again,

I would bypass the first paragraph of the recipe, start with the frying of the onion and at the end use 10fl oz of vegetable or chicken stock instead of the cooking liquid.

Best wishes,

Lindsey

Would white wine work? Or maybe half wine and half stock?

Lindsey - many thanks for your advice. I would also think half wine, half stock would also work.
