scallops in the shell

Recipe says 200 degrees for half an hour? Is that correct? I've never cooked a fresh scallop that long!

Scallops in the Shell

Hello LadyCooksalot,

For this particular recipe that is correct assuming that you are chilling the dish before you heat it. It does seem quite a long time but there is a high proportion of sauce to scallops. So it needs that time to bring everything up to temperature and brown the tops. I would reduce the temperature if you are using a fan oven.

Best wishes

Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful reply. I have a dinner party this Saturday and don't have time for a trial run. It sounds like my kind of recipe, where I can prepare it in advance and then enjoy the company of my guests without any last minute fuss.
