Oven Heat

I cooked the Irish Tea Cake for the required time 110 minutes at 170 degrees in a fan oven. It came out good but was a bit overcooked. Maybe my cooker is a little hotter than normal.

Next time should I keep the time the same and reduce the heat a bit, or keep the heat the same and reduce the cooking time.

Oven Heat

Hello Endastory,

We test all the recipes in an oven set to conventional top and bottom heat but the advice we have been giving with regards to fan ovens (if you are unable to select conventional heat for baking) is to reduce the oven temperature by 20 degrees. I think then the cooking time will be the same.

Best wishes

Lindsey
