Measurement of cake tins

I have recently bought the new 'Delia's cakes' cook book. In this Delia uses a 18cm loose based cake tin, and a 20cm loose based cake tin. Both of which she says should be 4 cm deep. Delia has mentioned at the beginning of the book that she has joined up with Silverwood who will produce the baking tins which are the correct sizes for the cakes within this book, however Silverwood's tins are 4.5cm deep. Im a little confused?

Cake tins

Hello,

The original Silverwood sandwich tins are 4cm deep. The Delia sandwich tins are 4.5cm. I believe I have read that Delia recommends the tin be at least 4cm deep and has specified 4.5cm for her Silverwood tin as she believes the extra height helps the sponge to rise.

I hope this helps.
