Asda (discontinued) bonfire rub

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

Asda (discontinued) bonfire rub

It would appear that this is discontinued. Does anyone have any idea what was in it? I'd like to experiment on making it myself, so hope someone can enlighten me!

Essence of bonfire

Thanks Bolas for that, I'll have a play around and see what I can come up with.
Meantime, if anyone has the genuine bonfire article lurking at the back of the cupboard with a list of ingredients on it, I'd really like to know (though it'll probably just say things like 'spices, flavourings and herbs' I expect!)

Bonfire Rub

I remember using the Bonfire Rub, very disappointed its been discontinued. However I reckon Bonio has described something very very close to it, I seem to remember dried chillie flakes in it too.

Ingredients for Bonfire Rub

Hi I found an old tin in the spice basket so here goes : Chillies (15 %), smoked paprika (14%), paprika (10%), dehydrated garlic, sugar, cumin seed, black pepper, dehydrated onion, oregano, coriander leaf, dehydrated red pepper, fat reduced cocoa powder (4%), smoked sea salt, dark chocolate couvertures (3%), cocoa liquor, sugar, cocoa butter, emulsifier (soya lecithins), flavouring coriander seed bay leaf., and on the side of the tin it says ‘ fiery hot with chillies, smoked paprika and a hint of chocolate’

Good Luck !

Bonfire rub ingredients

Wow, what a list! Thank you so much for taking the trouble to type it all out. I'll definitely have a play around and see what I can do to replicate it. Thanks again.
