Campbell's Condensed Soup

I'm pleased to see from "Mail on Sunday" Campbell's Condensed Soup will be on sale at Tesco stores from today and other retailers later in the summer. The article also states "Flavours from the original line up - Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Tomato, Cream of Chicken and Cream of Celery will be alongside new varieties such as Low Fat Chicken and Low Fat Mushroom. The soup has been absent from British supermarkets since March 2008"

A real store cupboard basic- still have a couple of tins I was hoarding !

Mum used to call it the "get out of jail free card " !

Campbells Condensed soup

That's good news, I shall buy a few tins, they are always handy to have in the cupboard. I still have my free recipe book with 24 delicious recipes in.

Thank you for that really useful information Dottie May. I shall make sure I pop into Tesco this week and pick up a few cans.

Campbell's Condensed Soup

It's still been available in my supermarkets but under the label of Batchelors. Apparently when the changeover took place, they said the recipe would be the same. (And my tuna pasta bake hasn't tasted any different!) Campbell's almost had cult status after Andy Warhol's painting.

Campbells Soup.

As Elpe says, it was still available but re-branded as Batchellors. They bought it but were not allowed ot use the name. However, sales plumeted, so they have now bought the name in the UK so can now use it.

The recipes didn't change.

I like the chicken one.

Campbells Soup

It threw me for a while when it was rebranded as Batchelors but have still been buying and using it since the switch over.
I too make a tuna bake with it and also a quick spag bol, dilute it with half a can of red wine and add to your browned mince and onions good sprinkling of oregano and its lush! Very quick for a mid week meal. ( Not very authentic I grant you)

Campbells Soup

Tomato for the spag bol by the way... Mushroom for the tuna bake

Campbells condensed soup

I thought i had a couple of tins of this in my cupboard - until James poitned out in a recent discussion to me (about the heinz soup adverts) that campbells had stopped being sold in UK, and quite rightly i didn;t have campbells - i had batchelors - and i have to say the celery one is lovely, espically in a chicken pie.

Cream of Asparagus

I hope they do this one again, that along with the celery were my two favourite flavours. I don't know what it is about condensed soup, it just seems to taste better than ordinary soup.

Campbells's Condensed Soup

I've got a recipe for Quick Chicken Casserole on My Profile which uses Campbell's Mushroom and Celery soups. Now the soups are back I'll have to make another batch soon.
