FAO Tubs

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

FAO Tubs

We've both given the same thing up for Lent - bread. Only 20 days to go!

I have been seriously tested. Three Italian restaurants with home made bread baskets, two hangovers with no toast and this weekend, Paris!

I too read the flippin' sandwiches thread, I was strangely drawn, even though I knew I wouldn't like reading it.

No bread!

Good luck with that in Paris!

I've just come back from 2 weeks in France and it was torture. Fresh baguettes everywhere. Crackers just don't have the same appeal and are so boring!
As for the sandwich thread, I'm not reading it anymore!!!!!!!

Why give up bread?

It would be a real sacrifice to give up the things that go on it.

Bread

But Tubs, you did it! I don't now how I will manage it....

Bread

"It would be a real sacrifice to give up the things that go on it."

This thread made me smile as traditionally at Lent, bread was about the only thing you could eat :)

I guess the point is denial of something you will miss.

bread etc

ES, I don't believe anyone misses bread, it's what goes on it was the point I wanted to make.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I'd not miss bread myself, or cake, but I'd be miserable without spuds! We're all different.

Well done everyone who has given something up, and good luck for the last stretch.

Bread

I can assure you it is totally about the bread, and not the fillings...... Expat, you tease! Yum though.

I don't know where my Lent buddy Tubs has gone, maybe that sarnie thread finished her off!
18 days to go.

bread

I'm here Nor, still chewing on my Ryvita! I agree totally with Expat it's all about the bread not the filling. I don't eat butter or any spread at all so for me the bread is king! (Or should that be Queen?)
By the way I've found it's very difficult to wipe your plate clean with a cracker!!!!!!

I've even started dreaming about the fried egg sandwich that I'm going to have for breakfast on Easter Sunday, how sad is that!!!!! Washed down with a glass of wine???? Erm,maybe not!

Tubs....

10 days to go......

I did Paris last weekend, gosh it was hard!

By tubs

Well done Nor....

......for ignoring the bread basket in Paris. Am getting a bit cheesed off (excuse the pun) with it now. Have just made hubby a hard-boiled egg, mayo and cress sandwich on granary and am now feeling quite grumpy!
If he loved me he'd eat it in the other room!!!!

It's just not the same on a cream cracker!

10 days and counting....... Still can't decide on fried egg or bacon on bog standard white on Easter Sunday, maybe both. What are you dreaming of?

Lent

Cor, just reading that.....

I am going to have two slices of Waitrose Sour Dough sliced bread toasted for breakfast on Easter Sunday, with Lurpak slightly salted butter.

I couldn't have done booze as well, don't know how you managed that at the same time.

Lent

Who said anything about giving up all booze? Only wine!!!! I'm not completely mad!
I'd be climbing the walls by now. The gin bottle has taken a fair old hit the last 5 weeks!
