Jars of "good-quality red wine sauce"

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

Jars of "good-quality red wine sauce"

Hello All,

I am trying to make the Easy Game Pie as my contribution to Christmas Dinner this year, I got the rest of the ingredients from the local Waitrose but I couldn't find anything like the jars of "good-quality red wine sauce" recommended.

I'm not sure what to replace the red wine sauce with.

The same amount of stock made with red wine and...?

Or, preferably, can anyone let me know where to get something that will let me follow the recipe?

Thanks,

D

Red wine sauce

My red wine sauce is just that. Red wine. honey. lots of herbs (dried or fresh). and...Maggi Fond pour Rotis.

Bisto?

"Maggi Fond pour Rotis."

...

French Bisto, honey, red wine and assorted herbs?

Ok, I'm not good enough to do this by eye/tongue.
Am I just looking for a red wine based meat stock reduced a little? What sort of consistency do I need for Easy Game Pie recipe and what herbs should I be sticking in the pan?

Thanks again,

D.

Red Wine Sauce

I believe Waitrose sell a Red Wine Sauce - think I've seen it on a shelf above the fresh Pasta where they also have their Bolognaise Sauce. Hope this helps.

Wine sauce

I've had the same problem. I've just been to m&s and they have a new red wine and chicken sauce in the chiller. I thought that would probably do so I bought it.
I hope it goes well! Merry Christmas

Beef & Red Wine Gravy

I decided to go with the beef & red wine gravy, with a bit more red wine added.
Fingers crossed it works, we'll find out on the 25th...

Thanks all,

D.
