Frozen concentrated orange juice

I want to make Jane Grigson's recipe for "Pinks" carrot and orange soup from the veg book. It used to be my dinner party stand-by in the 1980s & '90s and an old friend has asked me to make it for her daughter's "meet-the-future-in-laws" dinner which I'm doing the catering for.

Rather surprisingly JG specifies the frozen concentrated orange juice as the best to use. In fact, she's exactly right about it imparting just the right degree of orange-iness. It just isn't the same with fresh or bottled juice.

The thing is I can't seem to find the stuff. It used to come in little cardboard tubes about the size and shape of those tiny tins of tonic water you get with your gin on aeroplanes (well, you used to - it's along time since I flew anywhere). The last sighting I can find on Google was in 2008 in Costco and Sainsburys but no reference after then.

If anyone sees a tin or three could you let me know, please?

Frozen orange juice

Everybody remembers it , but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Obviously no astute product managers visit this site or it would have been back in the freezer cabinets by now.

Frozen Orange Juice.

I remember it too. A small white plastic can shape with orange lid. You let it defrost and then mix it with something like 4 times the same tub of water and stir.

No, its no longer available in the UK apparently. A good while ago, someone from here did extensive research into finding it and tracked down who used to supply the UK and was told they don't anymore.

Apparently still widely available in the US and Canada.

Shame, as it was a good product. Always had it in the freezer when I was a kid in case we ran out of cartons.
