Recipes for Diabetics

How about some recipes for diabetics, especially cakes? Is it possible to do a swap of sugar in recipes for sweetener?

Is there not loads of books etc out there already? Also information from the various support groups on line?

Delia is not on this forum, it's for fans, and she has also said she won't be writing any more new books at her age.

I'm sure there must be plenty of information out there for you. Well I hope there is!

Diabetics need help too!

There are recipes out there but not very exciting ones I'm afraid. It would also be good to know whether you can successfully swap sugar quantities in Delia's recipes for powdered sweeteners and what the comparison measurements are.
This site contains recipes for other special diets like nut and wheat allergies, which is what led me to ask if anyone had some for us diabetics too.
And yes I've been a fan have been since the 1960s when Delia wrote for the Evening Standard - Delia's recipes always work!

Surely there is a very easy way to find out if sweetener will work in a recipe instead of sugar. Give it a try! Nothing wrong with a bit of experimenting in the kitchen!

Good luck!

I know you can use sweeteners for cooking but would still rather have help on quantity substitution.Could be an expensive experiment if it goes wrong.

Diabetic recipes

I'm no expert on this, but my mother has been an insulin dependant diabetic for 40 years and if she knows she will be eating sweet/high carb foods she adjusts what else she eats according to the result of her blood glucose test, both before and after.

It seems to me to be not so much as needing diabetic recipes, more of learning glucose/insulin management.

I hope all goes well for you.
