turnips

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

turnips

Haven't been able to buy them for months. I much prefer the little white turnips to swede in pasties. Could have grown them from seed if I'd realised they'd vanish. Anyone else had turnip problems?

Turnips

I'm with you there Gerry ! Pasties need turnip - no question.

Funnily enough made some at the weekend, turnip from Waitrose. Maybe a trip to Okehampton is required !

Sandra, turnips

Went the W @ O yesterday; no turnips and none at any veg shops.

Turnips

A mystery then.
Only thing I can come up with is that they are far more popular in the West Country !

Don't think they'd sold out. Shops' excuse was that they're out of season. Poor excuse, as there were plenty of bananas and pineapples etc all of which are out of season.

Turnips/swedes

None around here at the moment either, "waterlogged fields" was the answer I got on enquiring. However, there were plenty of carrots and potatoes (English ones) which also grow in fields but maybe it was only the snanny fields got waterlogged.

Turnips

Bought turnip today from Waitrose. Was expensive though which usually suggests a shortage.

I'm doing everyone toad in the hole tonight and for a change I thought I'd do carrot / suede and turnip mash which I just love.

the elusive turnip

After failures in Okehampton, Tiverton and all the villages in between I visited every veg place in Crediton and found UK turnips in Morrisons of all places. Lots of pasties coming up.

Carrot/swede/turnip mash

Ooohh James, may I come over to your place? If I was to have a last meal that would be the combination of vegetables I would choose. I've only seen turnips once here and never seen swede. Poor me.

Turnips

They make OH difficult to live with. Ditto kohlrabi. It causes terrible wind issues so I won't buy it!
