French caster sugar

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

French caster sugar

Can't seem to find caster sugar here in France. Not bothered if it's white or golden. Does it exist? Sure it must, but where?

Caster sugar

Just put some standard sugar into the food processor and process it down.

Caster sugar

Thanks James, I do this all the time at home with my Bamix, as granulated sugar is much cheaper than caster sugar (if you process it for longer in the Bamix you get icing sugar!)But here in France my kitchen is not so well equipped but it might work in the Kenwood mini chopper. Will try it. Thanks, why didn't I think of that!

Sugar

Tubs, Can't see why it won't work in small batches in the mini chopper.

French caster sugar

July 15th when you posted this request, you've probably found some by now BUT if not it's good news, it comes in a 1kg cardboard box, Sucre Poudre, usually in the isle with the flour etc.If you still can't find it go to www.beghin-say.fr

Sorry, have to disagree..Sucre Poudre is ICING sugar, not caster sugar.
The company you mentioned do however do L’EXTRAFIN which looks like caster.

Thank you both. I found Beghin Say extra fin eventually. It's white caster sugar, am yet to find golden caster(maybe that's a step too far!)
My icing sugar packet says its sucre glac&"233; by the way.

I have been in France since June but soon my extended
holiday will come to an end, am really looking forward to the UK, cold dark mornings and lights on at 4pm............NOT!
