For the last few months i have desperately been trying to find a sausage that isn't full of rubbish and that the whole family will eat. I've tried my local butcher's and wasn't awfully impressed, tried the own label ones from the supermarkets - but still no luck! Can anyone recommend any? I am longing for a plate of sausage and mash but at the moment it is just a decent memory!
hello mystery person! We used to really like the Tesco Finest sausages - like you i'm pretty fussy and hate nasty bits in my bangers. Have no idea if they still do them? Lots of flavours to choose from.I have all but given up finding a decent sausage here - good luck with your search!
Donald Russell do some lovely products so you might like to have a look here. http://www.donaldrussell.com/c/PrimaryCategory_Sausages.htm
are an excellent breakfast sausage and very well priced. I prefer my sausages traditionally seasoned rather than with fancy flavours. Their Taste the Difference range includes fantastic chipolatas and also a type of sausage called Sicilian which are excellent with pasta.
Hi,I too have been in search of the perfect sausage!! Tescos Finest are not too bad but are too peppery, (in fact we think a lot of food is too peppery.Porkinsons(available in Tescos) might be worth a try but I think the consistency is too dense, my O.H. likes those. We tried M and S outdoor reared pork, and I thought they were awful.I'm sorry not being much help here really am I? In conclusion I think the taste of sausage is very subjective, just keep trying different ones. But finally, the butchers in the centre of Benllech Anglesey do gorgeous ones!!Happy hunting, Best wishes.Stephanie
I too have been on a sausage quest for many years.Paul Rankin has some fairly nice ones - only seen then in Sainsbugs.Good standbys are richmond irish sausages - i often have a bag of those in the freezer as they can be cooked from frozen. But, in our opinion a good proper old fashioned tasting without to much gristle and fat and padding out are the good old wall's original pork sausage.
Hello,We seem to have nice sausage in France, not the skinny one but nice big thick ones.If you can't find what you are looking for in the UK, why not have a go at making your own, Yummy makes her own, have a look in her profile she might have the recipe.Sausage machines are quite cheap, Yummy bought hers from Lidl.
My OH is really fussy when it comes to sausages- he loves 'The Black Farmers' sausage available in Tesco & Sainsburys
I agree with the Sainsbury's sausage being the best.My personal favourite is the cumberland and whenever I've cooked them for anyone else I'm always asked where I got them. x
Do try Debbie & Andrews range of sausages, they are absolutely fantastic.
I like these sausages too, also Porky whites.
thanks for your help everyone - think i might need to give the sainsburys ones another chance - dont think i ever tried the butchers choice ones -so fingers crossed!
I think sainsburys butchers choice ones are pretty rough, but their Taste the Difference range are superb.x
I think it's all about personal taste really, what one person finds is delicous another thinks it's just ok. We've just started to eat meat again after many years, so the sausages had to be good or the OH would want to go back to not eating meat again. We bought some from Jimmy's farm, they were nice and meaty. And they cost a lot less than I thought they would. I don't like Sainsburys Butchers Choice sausages either and I'm glad I don't have to eat any more veggie sausages, finished up a packet from the freezer, and after eating real sausage again they were awful. And it's goodbye to quorn.
NO!!!! Quorn is one of my fave foods!!!XXX
