What can I use instead of suet and Bramley apples - both of which I cannot buy here - to make mincemeat ?
If you have a butcher (even in the supermarket) then you can get suet.x
You don't give any indication of where you are.
I live in the east of France.
Boscop are good cookers, a bit like Bramleys
You will be able to get suet in the butchers then. Its only the fat around the kidneys. Butchers do not even usually charge for it.x
Hi, I used the French Granny Smith last year and will have to do similar this year. I use Delia's recipe with the cranberries and also use dried cranberries (successfully) which means I use less apple. Fingers crossed next year I will be picking a couple of my own Bramleys.....
