Weekend cooking plans?

What have we got planned for the weekend then people?

Tonight I think Im doing something with Mash, but not really decided what yet!

Tomorrow I making a pasta pie for the first time, got the correct tin from lakeland this week, so quite excited about that. Seeing some friends who are visiting Brighton during the day for a drink somewhere, so i expect we will have a spot of lunch out.

Sunday, a roast of some type, again, some friends are visiting Brighton for the day, so I suspect a glass of vino or two may just happen.

Anything exciting for you guys and gals?

Weekend cooking plans

James what is a pasta pie???

Tonight we are having Thai Green Curry.

Tomorrow got the in laws (again). As they are both on diets just bought some trout (special offer) & maybe just do veg with it. Got the kids fish fingers on standby just incase, as we have not tried fish on them yet.

This morning we made mango jelly.

Sunday, hubby is doing Rabbit in a mustard sauce. Got loads of apples so might do a crumble with fresh custard.

Weekend cooking plans?

Sue, have a look at this. I think it look brilliant and I can't see why you cannot do whatever filling you fancy. We love spinnach and ricotta and I think that would work.

I think it looks really good fun too, bet the kids would love it.

I never make cakes so I didn't have the right tin, but this dish has been on my mind for ages so I treated myself this week with a lakeland order!

Weekend meals

This evening we are having Chilli-con-carne, tomorrow is curry night and Salade Nicoise on Sunday.
As we live in a small remote village (with only a small shop to buy essentials) and the nearest large supermarket being approx. 39 kilometres away we tend to plan our meals several days ahead.

weekend cooking

James,

It looks just the sort of dish to have on a freezing cold day. Let us know how long it takes you to stand the pasta on it end.

Not to fond of Martha Steward(sp) but
Will give it a try next week, will have to add chilli to ours.

Weekend cooking plans

Tomorrow I have to feed 200 children and adults.

When I signed up for it there were going to be a group of mums helping and only 100 people but yesterday I found out there were 200 and today I discovered that the other mums have dropped out.

Help!

Weekend cooking plans

Courtesy of M&S 2 can dine for a tenner, tonight - chicken breast, roast Mediterranean veggies, our own potatoes probably sautéed, and chocolate melting middle puds. Eating out on Saturday & haven't planned Sunday yet but hopefully something where I can use my new toy - the snazzy stick blender!

Sue.

Can't stand Marther either. Crook!

Its only adapted from one of hers as faras I can tell, and I don't think it will take TOO long to stand all the pasta up. THats a job you could give the kids! :)

Weekend cooking plans?

Hi James

Love the look of your pasta pie, will definitely try a veggie version of this. Not sure though weather the spinach and ricotta mix will be moist enough for all that pasta. I may try a veggie tomato and lentil type mix.

I am making veggie cheese burgers - made with nuts, mushrooms and carrots - and tomorrow I am making pizza.

Have a lovely weekend and let us know how the pasta pie goes.

Now that you have such a lovely cake tin, there is no excuse for not doing a bit of baking! How about a nice cake for Marc, you can freeze individual slices for when he fancies or deserves a treat.

Love Sue

Weekend cooking plans?

Well Sue, normally when trying a dish, I stick to the recipe, but I will prob use soya mince to make this tomorrow as I have not "real" mince in, and do have soya stuff.

The pasta is pre cooked, so would spinnach and ricotta still be too dry for it?

As for cakes, I don't like them, and totally consider them outside of my abilities.

I did make a valentines things a couple of years ago, using a heart shaped yorkie style tin that I have. Split them in half and filled with cream and strawberries and dusted with icing sugar, but I used a mix for the sponge!!!!

James

Thanks for that link, that looks like fun. I reckon if you tilt the baking form you should have no difficulty geting the pasta in. My son LOVES my home made swiss version of macaroni cheese, so I reckon if I chop the bacon really small and keep the filling thinish, I'll be able to pour it over the pasta and it should work. Same taste as carbonara, but more set if you get what I mean. Oh, the possibilities! Yummy!

Weekend cooking plans

Home made soup for lunch and then a stir fry - chicken thighs I expect and then Saffy and the family are coming for dinner on Sunday.
Saffy wants a roast but I'm going to cheat and griddle some loin pork steaks and then cook them gently in the oven so that they are nice and tender. I'll do loads of veggies and roast potatoes plus stir fried leeks and carrots. That only takes second and be done in the morning and then it reheats like a dream for dinner in the evening.
