Focaccia

Anyone tried this recipe yet?

I made it last weekend, it was delish! It really is as easy as it looks in the video.

Focaccia

It is a bread that I have always avoided making because the recipes I have seen for Focaccia always seemed very off-putting and complicated. However after having watched the video I tried it and was absolutely amazed by the simplicity and the delicious result. I will certainly be baking this again, the family thoroughly enjoyed it !

Bread

I'll say this quietly and quickly......am I the only person that doesn't eat bread regularly. I love the occasional crumpet with jam but I don't eat bread everyday... I find it a bit heavy and sleepy. Saying that, I am tempted by the potato bread! : )

I'd like to have a go at making this too. We don't eat very much bread though... perhaps more in the summer with salads and barbecues. I like the flatbreads you can buy and so would like to try this recipe. I'm afraid I'm a bit lazy and make our wholemeal and white loaves and pizza dough in the breadmaker. In fact, I don't even do that, my husband isn't a cook in any shape or form, but he does make the bread... so I let him ;o)

Focaccia

we are another not very much a bread eating family, we too find bread very heavy on the tummy - slightly less since i changed to wholemeal, but hubby doesn't like the nutty granary style bread, so i freeze those and take a slice or 2 for myself.

But we do love focaccia.

I maybe tempted, to give this a go.

Am surprised to read that you eat crumpets once in a while - as i find those sit very heavy and we feel so bloated and lethargic after eating those.

I made focaccia

After being insired by Noreen and the video, I made a focaccia today. I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out as well as it did as it was all done in a hurry.

My only problem is that my tin is bigger than the recommended one and the one in the Summer Cookbook so it ended up with one straight-ish edge and one very uneven as I couldn't get it to fit the tin.

Bread

I do love crumpets Sam, but it's probably more to do with it being a vivid childhood tradition and memory with my Gran. I can't bear the dense, doughy supermarket crumpets. We have a very nice bakery up the road and we buy them fresh on the weekend and straight out the oven, hmmmmm light as a feather.... the butter, that's a must and the jam or lemon curd sink in. They are delicious and then I probably have to have a little lay down at about 4 O Clock! : )

from Focaccia to Crumpets

butter with marmite.... Your right, with the childhood memories - that's where my fondness for crumpets comes from, I wish my bakery made them.

Crumpets

To evoke my childhood memories of crumpets toasted in front of a coal fire... it would have to be butter and golden syrup. But I do like Marmite on them too.
