"So I was just wondering if anybody else had great success with weight loss only to put it back again in no time at all??"

Not personally, but from reading I think that it happens to lots of people. 'Yo-yo diets' comes to mind!

It really has to be a change in lifestyle that you can stick to, not a quick-fix diet that becomes quickly 'unfixed':)

Jag, the key thing that has been the most successful for me is to continue to eat what I like, but control the portion sizes. This is sustainable. Slowly but surely. I reduced the size of my plate (so I still have a full plate) and try and get the ratio of protein, carbohydrate and vegetables right. I seldom eat red meat and stick with poultry and fish which I enjoy. Another thing I've discovered works for me is to keep the carbs low... so I cut down (don't cut anything OUT otherwise you will crave them!) on things like bread. So instead of a sandwich at lunchtime, I've been having soup. Now, this has been tough because I really really don't enjoy soup... but it works.

But you gotta have bread with soup! Unless you crush up crackers as they do in Canada!

Meant to add - bravo Jag on losing all that weight! Have you stopped cooking? Great to see you back on here!

:-) Elpe, I do occasionally allow myself a slice, toasted, cubed and I tell myself they're croutons. But it's hard not to question where's the garlic butter!!

Hi Chris, long time, no see. I did low fat garlic bread the other day for E which fitted in with her Slimming Workd plan. I sprayed the bread with fry light, scraped lots of crushed garlic across the bread and sprinkled Schatchz (sp) Italian garlic spice jar over the top and put in the George Formby.

Post should read Olive Oil Frylight but silly iPad won't let me correct comment in the right place.

Was utterly yummy, but in a different way from the usual buttery calorie laden version.

Garlic bread

Sounds good Saffs... perhaps I sound get some lazy garlic and have a go. I could get the same effect on the floor of the top oven of the Aga. Great for in my :-( soup.

Hi SonyaK, One of the reasons why I have put it back on apart from all the wonderful food over Christmas & new year!!..Is that I have not been able to cycle as much as I wanted and so am not burning it off like I was. The turbo trainer just isn't the same as a good long hard cycle on or off the road.

Hi Honey, That's very sound advice and good on you for sticking to it too. But sadly the slim-fast diet is the only only one which has worked for me I have to say. Also if I feel a hunger attack coming I drink a pint of water to fill myself up again which is a great help. As for the soup I just love it!!! But don't really have any bread with it as I like it on it's own and enjoy most meat, fish & chicken dish's. I would say that giving up pasta & rice was the hardest part for me with alcohol being one of the easiest ones. Honey I thought you said not to give anything up?? "But it's hard not to question where's the garlic butter!!" (;o{P Just look on it as a treat!!!

Hi Elpe, I hope that your keeping well? Me stop cooking!!??..No chance!!! Yes it's nice to be back I have to say (:o{) and it's good to see you all again. Crackers & soup?..I take it you just crush and sprinkle them on top right? Can't say I have ever heard of that before and may just have to try that one out I think!! Does it matter what kind of soup it is do you know??

Hi Sue, Yes it has been a long time hasn't it..To long even!! I hope that you are well?
I have to say I like the sound of your garlic bread and will be giving that ago very soon I think!! (:o{p
Err may be not such a slim-line Jag after all!!! (;o{~

Cheers,

Jags... I've still eating butter and still eating garlic... but not in that format. Just too lazy to work out a low calorie version. But I'm going to try Saff's garlic bread... think that might help the soup go down.

I've had the weekend 'off'. We've had lamb and the works tonight, followed by.... :oO Sticky Toffee Pudding. So tomorrow it's sack cloth and ashes and I'll be back on the pea and ham soup at lunch time and chicken in the evening. Hey ho.

Jag - I just wondered how you were getting on with your diet - any success shifting those extra pounds? I have been spurred on by the finer weather and hope to get some weight off before the summer gets here. It's had work though!

GEORGE FORMBY

What on earth is a George Formby. I know who he was but even though I know it must be rhyming slang I can't come up with an explanation. Help, it's driving me mad!

It’s a George Foreman contact grill, sometimes in humour referred to as a George Formby.

Losing weight!...Update...

Hi Noreen,
It's good to hear from you and hope that you are keeping well?

Well as for the lost weight I have gone up again a little but that's because I haven't done as much cycling as I should have sadly. But I'm hoping to get back into it with some hard training from the beginning of May and not eating so much naughty food either now that Easter has passed!!
This Slim-Fast plan really has worked for me but as with any diet you must be strict with yourself from the start. I have a S-F milk shake for breakfast with a banana and a kiwi fruit plus a black coffee then a S-F snack mid morning then the same for lunch plus a S-F snack mid afternoon and a proper dinner in the evening. If I feel hungry at any other time of the day I drink water or have a black coffee.
Noreen if you or anybody else are thinking about losing weight go for it because I really do and I mean I really do feel so much better for it!!!! So if anyone should decide to go for it I would love to know how you get on as well.

One fitter happier Jag! (;o{) x
