Third term

Just thought I'd drop a line to say I've just watched the third term video. Excellent, as always, and certainly inspiring!

watching the video

Hi Wendy, you're lucky being able to see it , I can't. It comes up with ..technology out of date.. I really wanted to watch the videos about pastry. If we need to buy something to be able to see it I don't think the OH will pay up. It's a shame because I enjoyed all the others.

Video

Hi VE. Hope all is well with you and yours. All good here.

I'm sorry you can't see the videos, I was wondering, until you get sorted, if you go to an Internet cafe or library and see them there although I do remember Noreen saying the videos will be available for a long time after the initial showing.

Learning a lot from this term. Excellent Delia. I think I need to watch it again and make notes!

Third term - pastry

How lovely to get positive feedback! Delia and Lindsey work so hard creating the videos I know they will really appreciate reading your comments.

Violet Eyes, I am sorry you are unable to play them, and wish there was something I could do to help.

They will be on the site we hope forever - so you'll be able to catch up one day I hope!

You could download an application, there is a lot of free software available on the internet. Noreen maybe able to advise you on the easiest application available which will enable you to watch the videos?!

Third Term Pastry

Although I've been cooking for yonks my pastry is rubbish and have succumbed to buying ready made versions. Many thanks to Delia's latest video which I'm following over the weekend......fingers crossed, I'll let you know how I've progressed.

Yes, I enjoy them too. Good to have refreshers, little tips I've forgotten along the way lol.

Pastry

I'm making a pie today too Dottie... with the left overs from a 4 bird roast we had over Christmas. Just waiting for it to defrost so I can see how much meat I have after draining off the gravy I froze it in and then I can assess how much pastry I need to make. I've always made my pastry in my Kenwood... but I think I'm going to have a go at doing it by hand today.

I find the videos soooo relaxing. I love Delia's voice... almost mesmerising. Love the music too. I presume (I could be wrong) that it's Lindsey doing the work and Delia doing the voice over? Very well done both Lindsey and Delia.

Delia's Cookery School

I agree with you Honey. I've been inspired to have another go at perfecting my shortcrust, with no shrinking round the rim(!) so have been making notes. With Delia's calm voice and that music, why would you not want to have a go. I suppose that's why I used to love her television programmes so much.

That has been my problem too (shrinkage... in to much of a hurry) but I also got the same problem with the bought stuff! My pie last night was good with no shrinkage (had a top and bottom though to hold it together) but a true test for me will be making a tart of sorts and baking it blind. I must check my tins are deep enough. But there were so many little tips in Lesson 2 that will help with the shrinkage problem.

Shrinking edges

My mother used to make wonderful short pastry but I always have the problem of the edges shrinking back when I bake blind. I will have to watch Delia's videos now, Cinnamon
