First English Christmas

My husband (who is English) and I (who am not...) moved to Essex a few months ago, and I was very nervous about cooking my first English Christmas dinner. In past years, I always made a goose with bread dumplings (can anyone guess my nationality based on this :-)?), but I'd never before roasted a Turkey. All credit for the fact that it did, in fact, all come out beautifully goes to Delia - who has, in fact, been a mainstay of my marriage for the past 12 years and taught me how to make all kinds of things I'd never even known existed, let alone were things you'd eat. And I do have to say how reassuring it was to have her exact description, complete with timings and thoughtful tips, from the Complete Cookery Course. Who knows, next year I might be really brave and try to make the bread sauce with it!
Happy Christmas, everyone, and thank you, Delia.

Hey Monika

I think you may be Czech?

I cooked Goose this year, well 2 actually. Went down well. Surprisingly.... it was my first time cooking too.

We have a czechoslovakian(SP) bar/restaurant very near to where we live. It may be open late so we may have had a few nights in there!!
: )
