Christmas Sausage Rolls

Delia has made a special video for her sausage roll recipe - please have a look at it on the home page and tell us what you think. We all think it looks lovely!

Christmas Sausage Rolls

Looks an excellent fail-proof video for making sausage rolls and which I will follow. Many thanks.

Christmas sausage rolls

Hello Noreen,

Just showed Luca the video and he is going to make some on saturday morning before his football match. This way we can wrap them up and he can nibble on a few after the game.

I will leave the video on for him to follow and see what happens.

long time since i made sausage rolls.

Luca really enjoys helping me in the kitchen, last week we made pastry and did christmas mince pies. With the left over pastry he did jam tarts for school friends and biscuits for the goats.

Sausage rolls

I'm really tempted to try and make some. I might have to use skinless chicken mince sausages as I've not seen sausage meat and the normal sausages have quite a chunky (rather too big for sausages roll) filling.

Sausage rolls

Wendy, I am going to try putting the coarse sausage meat through the processor and adding the sage and onion. Or through a fine blade mincer would do it.

I'll give that another try, Rasdora. The last time wasn't very successful, maybe this time it'll be better.

Sausage Roll Video

Well worth watching. It brings back memories of Delia's Christmas programmes and has inspired me to make some for the freezer.

Christmas sausage rolls

I make this every Christmas , they are simply wonderful hot from the oven , I make a few batches and keep some in the freezer to reheat and settle down with and a good film !

The veggie ones are brilliant too I always do both . They work perfectly gluten free too . I use gluten free sausages and doves farm gluten free flour with a teaspoon of xanthan gum .

Christmas Sausage Rolls

Hello Wendy, what was the problem with remincing the coarse sausage meat, was it the texture or the flavour. Am interested in trying but would like to hear your comments Thanks

Christmas sausage rolls

Just watched the video - brilliant. I have now changed my plans for the day so I can fit them in! Going to the butchers first thing now - should be baked long before my son finally gets out of bed .... And I will send a pic to my daughter at Uni to make her jealous. Bit cruel I know.

I've just watched it too QoP, and will be doing the same as you ! I've also sent it to my sister who swears she can't make pastry and challenged her to have a go !! We'll see how she gets on :)

Rasdora - sausage rolls

It's a good few years ago now and I can't remember the actual reason but I do recall the texture looked unappealing and sloppy so it could be that I processed it for too long.

Thanks for your reply Wendy. I'll give it a try with a small amount and see what it tastes like.

Xmas sausage rolls ....

They were dead easy & tasted marvellous! I still have a few left, but have also been asked to make another batch to send to my daughter when her boyfriend visits her on Tuesday.

I will definitely be making them again though. I'd forgotten how much nicer they are than shop bought (which I never eat, frankly, because they aren't usually very good) but I wolfed several of these with coffee in between my other chores. I might now experiment with other flavourings in the meat. :)
