Egg Yolk Separator

I see Lakeland are selling a Squeezy Yolk Separator for £6.99 which is the same principle I mentioned some time back using an empty plastic bottle. Apart from myself I believe Tompeters tried it and it works.

Or you could save £6.99 and follow this technique...

Yes, I tried the bottle and it works fine. I told my b-i-l (an ex-professional chef) and he told me it's quicker to use your fingers. We didn't have a need so he didn't demonstrate but this vid shows how...

I haven't tried it (yet)

Separating egg yolks

Hi,

There is a video of the egg separator on this website and it is £6.00:

It looks a good way to do it if you don't like handling raw eggs.

Thank you

Thank you! Feel rather stupid! Yes it is safe on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Sorry, Sharon, I was typing in haste...not everyone knows these acronyms that emerged in the very early days of forums and newsgroups. Talking of which, I haven't used a newsgroup for years!

Another useless thing

How about a piping bag holder for £9.99?

I also thought that. I wonder who thinks up all these things that we might want to clutter up our kitchens. You would need extra cupboards if you bought it all not to mention a payday loan.
Don't get me wrong I like Lakeland, bought something from them the other week but I never knew there was so much I didn't need.

Many thanks Noreen for the link. Looks foolproof and cheap.

Separating eggs

I have used Delia's method of separating eggs for years and find it very successful but I also tried the method which seems to be doing the rounds at the moment, of using a plastic bottle to 'suck' up the yolk from the white and found that very successful too. I think if you had a lot of eggs to separate that would be a good idea, much quicker than Delia's, but nothing to gain if just using one or two eggs. I certainly wouldn't pay money to buy something to separate an egg!

What a shame, Maggie, the link didn't work for me. Do tell, what was it?
