Lakeland product sounds very expensive. To find out an excellent way of separating the yolk from the white click on:

I should have added the video is Chinese but no need to alter the language as the demonstration is clearly visual.

What is it? Where from?

DM -- fantastic, and FREE! Thanks so much :)

GQ -- see DM's vid. The Yolkr is a posh purpose-made device that does the same thing for £18.

Quite made my day....Thomasina has ordered her hen coop and is about to get the pol hens. Is that :) or :( ? Depends who ends up cleaning 'em out.

Since Noreen has asked that we don't post links to suppliers' sites, I suggest you google "yolkr" (sic)

From what I'e seen, this is a genius invention, but very overpriced for what is essentially the same thing as a turkey baster, only with different proportions. Does anyone really have that much trouble separating eggs?

As a guess - pure speculation on my part - it's a manual derivative of an industrial egg separator technique.

Should be less risk of the yolk sac breaking - so important for meringue. Also looks a lot quicker. The Yolkr folk make a big play of the size and shape of the hole....which seems a nonsense when you see that Chinese vid.

After seeing the video mentioned on youtube last year I got myself an empty water bottle and 'had a go' , it was easy and worked a treat! Try it, it is worth having a go, the worst you can do is to break an egg, you don't even have to waste it.

Thought you would enjoy the Chinese vid Tompeters. I've followed it myself with success. As mentioned above, if it doesn't work some times you can always use up the egg so it isn't wasted. Good luck with your Hens.
