Unusual Food

We were chatting with friends the other night..We got onto food we don't normally eat everyday.

A few years ago we were travelling in South America and ate guinea pig(did'nt really know that at the time!). Eating traditional food is a large part of the travel experience thou. In Japan we ate Blue squid or 'Firefly squid' in Toyama Bay. Its a delicacy in that part of the world!

What unusual foods have you eaten, when, what did they taste like, the circumstances?...and would you again?

Unusual food

Most unusual food I've eaten was probably Jellyfish at a Chinese restaurant. Didn't taste of much other than the sesame oil and cucumber it was flavoured with. Texture was weird. Don't think I'll order it again!

Unusual food

Turtle, guinea pig, cayman tail, cutting grass (a type of vegetarian rodent) and various African game. As you can tell, we've lived in some unusual places around the world! Not to offend our hosts, we have eaten anything offered, but the worst was fish heads in palm oil stew. Just couldn't manage it. Still, not as bad as slimy leeks.
