salad dressings

I am going to give up making the dressing that I usually make because I don't really like it.
Not sure what the problem with it is. It could be the oil or maybe it's the balsamic vinegar. Anyway I've been looking around and have found a few nice sounding recipes that I will try out. That's if the sun ever shines long enough for wanting to eat a salad.
What's your favourite dressing?

salad dressings

my favourite at the moment is honey and mustard. I have quite a collection of dressings in my profile, but my all time fav is my smoked salmon dressing, so come on sun.....

Salad Dressings

I like most dressings, especially the creamy ones..... also love dipping bread into a mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Had a look at your profile Janjam and have written down all your dressing recipes except the blue cheese one, don't think I would like that. I will give them all a try over the next few weeks, if and when summer ever arrives.
Have also made a list of some of your other recipes that I would like to try out. What a list!

Essex Girl, yes I think I would also like to try some creamy dressings so they will also go on my to try list.

Thanks.

Making salad dressings

I stopped buying dressings after taking a good look at the ingredients and enjoy making my own, though have to admit I usually resort to basic French Dressing as it is so quick and easy! I too love the creamy dressings, blue cheese being the one I make most often. I make Yummy's quick mayo recipe regularly and so we are never out of it. I accidently made good old English salad cream whilst experimenting with dressings and so I like that on my salad. Brings bake good memories snd much cheaper than buying online. Also simply sesame oil is good.

Salad Cream

Janice
Do you have a recipe for English Salad Cream?
You said you accidentally made it one time!! Sounds like a good accident!!

Salad dressing

My all-time favourite is Thousand Island! Enjoy lots of others, too, but always have that in the fridge!

I'd forgotten about thousand island, never made it before but it seems an easy one to make. I'll try that soon.

salad dressings

I like fruity salad dressings. Mango and lime or Orange. Is that weird? I also like a bit of fruit in a salad. Sliced apple with chicken, or a few grapes mixed in... I love a blue cheese dressing, but with pasta.

SonyaK Re: salad cream

Yes it was Sonyak, a total surprise! I will have to re-make it and note exactly what I use, as I didn't make a written note of any ingredients. I will do so though and post my results. I have found a couple of recipes on the internet but as far as I remember they require cooking the mixture - I didn't do that, so mine is much quicker. I will certainly let you know how I make it.

Dressings - Violet Eyes

Success for me at last and some encouragement from Noreen! I've managed to upload a rather nice recipe for Grapefruit Sauce. It goes well with grilled chicken but I haven't tried it with other things.

Cat now trying to help me on the com9pu8ter, he is probably better than me!

Hope your boy is well!

salad dressings

Hi Wendy, thanks for the grapefruit sauce recipe, just copied it out. One thing, you say white vinegar is that the distilled clear malt vinegar or do you mean white wine vinegar? I've got both.
I'm going to try your recipe for white cake it'll make a change from yellow.

The cat is fine thanks,he's doing what he likes best, sleeping the day away. Come to think of it he also sleeps the night away. Cats are so lazy.
We bought a couple of new garden chairs the other week, the sort that once you sit down you don't want to get up. He's taken a liking to them, not that they have been used much what with our lack of sun but when they are put on the lawn he some how manages to spend more time on it than I do.
I wonder if they make garden chairs especially for cats :o)

Vinegar

The recipe states sherry vinegar but I use white wine vinegar.

The recipe might work well with a salad.

I wish Nero would sleep through the night. He wakes around 4.00am wanting to be fed then he can go back to sleep for a couple of hours before wanting breakfast then sleeps on and off for the rest of the day! Last night because it was warm he stayed out till midnight, had to feed him. At 2.00am he wanted feeding again but I refused to get up again. He slept till 4.15 when I had to get up to attend to him.

If they made chairs for cats I think they would still want our chairs!!

Memo to self. Come back as a cat!

Wendy
