Heinz Tomato Frito

recall not too long ago reading on the forum about people having difficulty getting hold of this prized ingredient, made popular by Delia herself with her updated edition (2008) of 'How To Cheat At Cooking'

I am pleased to share with you all that I re-discovered it yesterday at my local Tesco store!

It also appears to be available on their website for ordering from home. It is no longer in the familiar jar, instead it is now housed in a bright green tetra-pak carton, contains 210g and the best news is... its now GLUTEN-FREE!

I imagine it may differ from region to region, and store to store, but do try to get some, as it embodies all the taste and character of before, and means we can go back to those fantastic mid-week trips to Spain via the kitchen with the help of our beloved Delia! Get it while you can folks!

Awful lot of sugar in these things per 'serving' I make lovely tomato sauces with no sugar: tom paste/toms, fry for a few minutes in hot oil and it removes the raw/'bitter' taste. Also, I think the additions of sweet red peppers is nice.

Thanks for letting us know. I tried to buy it recently with no joy, good to hear Tesco are stocking it again.
