Lesson 7....

...I fancy a biscuit now!

Loved the look of the shortbread in particular...

I know what I'm going to be doing later!!

Lesson 7....

....and so do I Rob but I have to wait as my oven is up the shoot and await for the new one tomorrow. Saying that, I made the shortbread last week, in Delias CCC its called scottish shortbread....I like adding semolina than just flour, sugar and butter, gives it more depth.

lesson 7... biscuits

you can't beat homemade biscuits,it's the butter that makes all the difference. Might try all those recipes, they look so easy.

Yummy, but are they fan temp?

I really like the look of those biscuits, in particular the ginger and oat, and the 2 oat ones, and the shortbread!
However, as far as I could see it did not say whether the temperatures are for a fan over. I can turn off the fan for my oven and it makes a big difference to the baking temperature. And it's better for cakes I think.

Lesson 7

Hello,
All of the recipes where Delia uses an oven are tested and written using conventional heat. If you only have the option of a fan-assisted oven it is recommended that you need to reduce the temperature by 20 degrees but also that you check the manufactures handbook. If you are able to set the oven to conventional heat we agree its better for baking.
I hope that helps.

fan oven

thank you Lindsey, that means I can follow the temperatures as shown with the recipes.
Now, which one first?

Lesson 7

I have an observation to make - I haven't tried the shortbread recipe yet, but I would imagine that if you cut the shortbread into wedges in the tin you are in danger of cutting through the re-useable liner. I use grease proof ones so would not be such a waste. Am I mussing something?

cutting liners

Actually i made the cheesecake in delia's new cake cook and used the tin and liner, and also cut the cheesecake in the tin, forgetting about the liner, and it was fine, a few small score marks but absolutely no rip and im quite heavy handed lol
