Delia's Cake Book

I'm so weak-willed. I told myself I don't need any more cookery books - but guess what I bought earlier this week?

Delia's cake book

After seeing a couple of the recipes in the DM, I am very tempted....shall I give in, EG ?

Cake.

Since I've been into cooking this is the first Delia book I'm not buying.

I simply do not see the point of cake. It does not taste nice, it does not look good, what is it actually for?

I really do find cake just totally pointless.

Very odd stuff!!!!! :)

I've got that one lined up too, Daisy. Baked cheesecakes are the best!

Delia's Cake Book

I have not succumbed yet because I was determined not to buy this. I still have my 1978 paperback book of Delia Smith's Book of Cakes. However, I have been looking at excerpts from the book in various cookery magazines and I am sure it is only a matter of time before I am tempted.

I'm with James though I do bake cakes for Tony and visitors.

Me too, Gerry! I am not a cake fan at all.

Even when I was a child, I was the one at birthday parties who wouldn't touch birthday cake, jelly or - at that time - even ice-cream. But show me the platter of sarnies and - best of all - sausages, and I couldn't be stopped.

For 'always trying'

In the 1978 book there is a recipe called Moist Chocolate and Almond Cake'. Is thatlikely to be the want you are looking for? It is baked in a 20 cm tin and has grated chocolate and ground almonds in it.

I would have said the same as you, James. I never ever eat desserts when dining out and reserve them at home for entertaining guests. Basically I'm not a fan.

But....Gravy has recently introduced me to the most amazing recipe for hand-churned ice-cream with Bailey's, and I suspect I may be hooked! It makes a brilliant late-night snack. :)

Super Cakes

This book is just what I needed, already made, scones, cupcakes, ginger biscuits and husband make victoria sponge. Every recipe worked out perfect. Also enjoying the on-line school.
