Delia's out and Pippa's in...

What do we all think about the new Waitrose magazine line-up?

Can't say I'm personally impressed. The good thing is that I imagine Waitrose will have a final editing say on Pippa's columns, which can only be to advantage!

Delia/Pippa

I don't think somehow that doing a Pippa will be quite the same as doing a Delia.
Who does she think she is?

Royalty

More royal than the Queen I feel is the answer to your question.

Sorry, you've lost me.

I don't go to Waitrose (too far) & don't see their magazine.

Pippa who? The name sounds annoying enough, but I'm clueless (& yes, it's been said before) ...

Pippa?

I am in the dark too - what is this all about - I am a Waitrose fan, but here in SW France this means nothing??

Delia Smith and Pippa Middleton...the latter being the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge aka Prince William's wife.

And the Waitrose connection pertains to Delia having been dropped as a spokesperson and the news yesterday that Pippa has in contrast been hired to add to their editorial rosta on the Waitrose magazine, due to write a regular Friday column for them and work with what's-his-name from The Fat Duck.

All clear as mud now I imagine! ;)

It's publicity, innit? More fool Waitrose, IMO, makes Waitrose look very shallow. If Delia and Waitrose 'fell out' for whatever reason, fine, but you don't replace a Delia with Pippa! :0 Waitrose's 'Gerald Ratner' moment?

Delia and Waitrose

Just to also explain, Delia wasn't dropped by Waitrose, nor did they fall out.

She wanted to launch her online cookery school, which has and will, take up most of her time.

I Didnt think Delia was dropped.

With Pippa Middleton, she is a party planner/table arranger !!! isnt she? or some kind of planner of entertainment! Be interesting what she has to offer.

I think the family shops at Waitrose as well, the family and Kate, even after she was married, was caught pushing a waitrose trolly lol....free food for a year now ;-)))

Pippa

Can't stand the woman, I think she is shallow and vacuous. She loves publicity (good or bad)and lives off her royal connections and I reckon she makes sure everyone she meets knows it.

Gosh, Wendy, have you met her?

That's good to know. I don't know any of these people personally so nothing personal but I don't associate Pippa with advice on anything I would ever do.

The celebs who I listen to in cooking - the ones I perceive to be relevant to me personally - are Delia, Mary Berry, Jamie and Hugh Eats-it-all. Of those only Delia and Mary are essentially 'cooks' while the others are essentially chefs, though they have a way to bring cooking ideas to us ordinary home cooks.

Still, I am really looking forward to Delia's course and will order her Cakes book which looks very relevant to me.

Pippa

If she hadn't walked down that isle showing off her backside in that dress I don't think the world whould have a clue who she was.

Hello Wendy , hope you and your cats are all well. Mine's asleep as usual.
