For all the new faces...

We seem to have some new names on the forums lately. Please tell us who you are, where you live and a little about yourself - we all love to read the background of other members.

We have done this before, so I will go first again. Please don't be shy!

Me!

I originally worked for Delia's husband Michael - 20 years ago this month!

He was the editor of the Sainsbury's Magazine, and when the publishing company was sold, about 8 years ago I started working on Delia Online.

I live in London, we have a house in Norfolk, so I get the contrast of the city and the country which is great. I like cooking (of course), but tend do more in Norfolk.

Right - your go!

...and me!

I'm Jo, I'm an ex-pat Brit living (most of the time) in Ireland (the Republic of) with my husband , 2 dogs and 3 cats. Originally from Brighton, I come back here to see and/or look after my 85 yr old Dad at least 3 times a year, and recently a lot more than that, since he broke his hip last September. He has a few other medical issues, so I foresee being back 'home' a lot more often in the future - but I enjoy it, ahh...the food, the shopping!

I'm a fairly new member of this site - it's been about 3 years now, but there are many who have been here a lot longer than me. I'm in my 50s, I love to cook and eat, I also make weird wines and other brews.

Other hobbies apart from food related things include photography and attempting to grow vegetables (not easy in our wild climate!). No kids, never wanted them - but show me a puppy and I melt :)

Nobody brave enough to say hello on this thread...?

Not new!

Hello Noreen
I often think how frustrating it must be for you when you get little response to your requests. So....altho' I am not new and very rarely post as feel I do not have much to say..this time I thought I would.
Have looked at this brilliant Site every day for many years and even tho' coming up to 84 years of age I still learn things from other "posters". You know what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks!
I use my Computer all the time as more physical pursuits are now rather beyond me but I do however continue to cook. Not quite the kind of meals I used to do but more basic.... at least I am still doing it.
Am looking forward to reading everyone's Posts for many years to come. You are all like friends to me now.

For all the new faces

I'm Saffy (Sue). I've been using the site for about 7 or 8 years; used to come on here every day but since returning to work 5 years ago I visit less often. I'm married, 2 daughters, 19 and 17, one dog.

I enjoy cooking but since moving to our current home, entertain less often that we would like due to the dingy dining room. Got some building work planned so hopefully that will improve the layout and we can get back to entertaining.

Not new, but....

I am another member who has been around here for about six years or more but don't always chime in on discussions although I visit the site most days. I have been a fan of Delia's since watching her first TV series in the '70's and have most of her books and use her recipes all the while, in fact we had her Chicken Jambalaya last night and thoroughly enjoyed it!
I am one of the older members in age also, I have been married to my Scottish husband for nearly 53 years, having met him 54 years ago on Valentine's night at a local dance in N. Wales, where I was born and have lived ever since. We have two sons and a daughter, plus two lovely grand-daughters. I enjoy cooking , but baking even more and through the various web-sites I visit have made some very good friends.

Hello

Perhaps we needed that kick up the backside Noreen!

I live in the Uk but have a home in France too. I love all things French and Delia forumites have come to my rescue many times when I've been stuck for French alternatives to English ingredients.
I'm coming up for a big birthday ending with a zero next year and have been married twice, the first time for 18 years and this time round for 12,although we've known each other for over 40 years.
I love cooking from scratch but have to have a recipe to hand, no good at making it up as I go along.

I visit this site every day and ask/answer questions from time to time. It's a great source of information and there's nearly always someone who will know the answer or give advice.
Long may it reign.

Hello

Oh well Noreen, you did ask!
I'm in my 70s and was born in the Harrow (then Middlesex) area. Moved to Devonshire in 1961 and lived there for 42 years. I miss it! Was married 40 yrs but decided I wasn't going to like it! I now have the most wonderful husband and we're very happy indeed. Married 10 yrs this year.
I was a Secretary/PA in a large international electronics company and made many friends. Always loved cooking both mains and cakes. Not so able these days but still have a go. This week we're having a brand new bathroom put in, making it into a wet room, for safety's sake, plus a stair lift being fitted on Friday. We won't know ourselves.
Just to excite you re my cooking, we're having poached eggs and chips tonight, lol. Knew you'd be thrilled!
Enjoyed reading the other posts very much and look forward to reading more.
