Sue I noticed from one of your previous posts that like us you have bought an old property and are doing a lot of work on it and thought that you might be interested to know that ScrewFix now deliver to several EU countries including France and delivery charges are low and if you spend over £100 delivery is free....the prices are so much cheaper than any DIY stores here. OH placed an order yesterday morning and we have saved a fortune.

Perhaps this will be of interest to you also Biggles?

Hi Chrissie,

Thanks for the info, will have a look. House is not really old compared to what some people buy, just made before double glazing and insulating walls came into fashion.

We find Brico depot quite good on prices. Sister did bring me paint, she said it was good for the kids room as i could wash over the finger prints. Un like french paint that washes off the walls. Still got 40 litres left.

Going to visit mother in law later will ask her about the cooking apples she buys.

Not been in the mood to chat on Delia this week, have big problems with my daughter, also

Great grandmother (mother in laws mother) was put into hospital after going walk abouts at 3 in the morning. Feel really sorry for her, she is 98 and now tied up in a hospital bed in case she goes walk abouts again. No space in the OAP homes, so she has to stay in hospital.

Then Father in law is rushed to hospital, he has problems with his lungs.
Hubby is off visiting everyone & being a taxi service.

My little chicken died, one minute she is fine, next morning she is dead. really odd as other chickens are all ok.

Dog nearly got shot by hunters out in the forest. Hunters are not allowed to come within so many meters of your property, these two were right on our fence. Sent hubby off to the Mairie to make a complaint. Thankfully kids were not out in the garden that day.

Now off for a long walk around the lake for some fresh air, only place the hunters aren't allowed to shoot.

Sue and Chrissie

Cripes Sue, what a difficult time for you and all sorts of things happening all at once; I hope you find some peace and tranquility on your walk. Such a sad situation for your MIL's Mum. Apparently chickens are prone to die from a heart attack; I was told this on my Chicken keeping course I did back in the UK.

Thanks Chrissie, we are finished with the major works now but we are looking for some new flooring for the guest room and wall paper too. The price of wall paper does seem to be prohibitive but perhaps I'm just out of touch with current prices.

French apple

Just remembered. I spoke with my French tutor last week and she prefers to use the Golden for her cooking for pies and such. Two pronged attack on my tutor because I also asked how how she cooks tarte tatin. She agreed my Canadian is good with savoury dishes.
