Strikes

One thing i hate about France, are the strikes. For the last few weeks, teachers have been going on strike to protest about the 4 1/2 day aweek.
Kids go Monday/Tuesday/Thursday & Friday.
In our area lessons start at 8.45/ lunch is 11.45 back at 13.30 and finish 4.45. President wants to bring back Wednesday Morning or Saturday Mornings.

Teachers don't want it/parents don't want it to happen. Kids are getting upset as it means all their sports activites on Saturdays & Wednesdays will have to be stopped not unless the sport clubs change their time tables.

Yesterday the kids were coming out of school asking their parents if they could go out and march with the teachers.

Strikes

The French teacher's strikes have not really made the news over here. I did read an article that said the government were concerned about the long school day and were hoping to shorten it, I don't know if this is true. I was interested to read that some schools provide sports facilities for pupils on their day off. I hope it all gets sorted out satisfactorily, it is very unsettling for the children and parents and I am sure for the teachers.
