I want to make a cake for a meeting at work, its in the morning and I don't fancy making a chocolate cake as perhaps too early and made one last time. Can you recommend any cake recipes to please all? I guess no nuts and lemon cakes..around 15 people, and easy to make too.
How about a plain Victoria sandwich - still one of the nicest in my opinion, or a Swiss roll?
Boiled fruit cake in a loaf tin - easy to slice. Victoria sponge cupcakes (see Stork recipes), coffee and walnut cake or madeira cake - to name but a few.

I don't like cakes either but I have to cook them and I'm told that the carrot in cakes doesn't taste; it disappears somehow.
So why put them in? LOL!I love carrots, but not in cake. Cake is just a bit bleurgh. It's not one of my (many!) food hates, but I do find it very dull.
James, carrot cake is also called Passion Cake! Try it. Not just any recipe, but Delia's Ultimate one. But I agree - some cakes are yukky and boring - but not this one!
I think carrot cake is a great idea or Delia's banana bread, which is a cake really. Both easy as well

You really couldn't go wrong with any Delia cake . I love the maple syrup and walnut one and also her banana loaf .
