what is the difference between a hen and a chicken?i know i could probably google, but was just wondering following the previous thread.by the way, i adore capon....have had that a couple of christmases - which seems the only time the butcher i use gets them in.
Isn't chicken the name of the animal? So the hen is the female of that animal, the male is the cock. Rather like sheep; the female is the ewe and the ram the male.
Over here they're just called 'chooks' :)
