American Meatloaf

could any one help please I have made a meatloaf using Delias recipe and all I have is a dish full of oil with the meat floating in the middle, do not know what to do but start again or not bother. Have drained it and left it to cool but it looks just a mess

i used to always suffer from a shrunken meatloaf, swimming in oil. Its nothing unusual really, just tip away the oil (in an old butter tub - not down the sink though - will clog your pipes up).

I now use extra lean minced meat, and i no longer get as much oil.

and use dry cured bacon.

your current dish is not lost, it will taste delicious.
